Oh goodness! So I thought after our doctor said for our son to do a urine specimen test and just drop it off at the Bellefonte location to save a drive. The office is 2 minutes from our house, and I figured how could they frustrate us with just a simple drop off of urine. Wow! I should have learned that 3/5 experiences here did not go well. Am I am known by family and friends to be extremely patient and very understanding. But just so done with this place after my most recent experience. Just had to drop off a urine specimen. Again the registration ladies were polite. Strangely, I had to be walked in like I was there for an appointment. I waited for about 15-20 minutes and then when I got up to say I couldn't wait any longer and was just going to go to Grays Woods, (where we always have a good experience), I hear the exact same laboratory technician come out as last time and say our sons name in a snarky way. I go to hand her the specimen and she says I need to go back to a room. This turned into almost an honest to God appointment. I was done. I stormed out (my husband would be proud of me) and went to the geisinger Grays Woods location. Went in and dropped the urine specimen off in less than 2 minutes. So lesson learned! Need to take the the 15-20 minute drive and know we will have a good experience. And honestly, when I said one comment about this to some other locals, they knew exactly who I was talking about when I don't even know this technicians name. Talk about your reputation preceding you. They all stated that I shouldn't take it personally, that this woman acts this way constantly. So yay Grays Woods.....thank you for the great experience once again!
The registration staff are always nice and again we're today. But a laboratory technician/phlebotomist was bizarrely rude to our family. Our son had been NPO or fasting for over 8 hours which is not easy due to being on seizure meds, and being young child with Autism, etc. After waiting patiently for close to 40 minutes, we were called back. The technician took the script at the door which is unusual and verified our son was fasting in before we went back. That's fine, so I answered yes, but then our daughter said well he had breakfast but he has been NPO for over 8 hours. The laboratory technician took a few steps and abruptly and rudely said "oh no....he had to not eat for 10-12 hours. At no point did anyone including the doctor who ordered the tests ever say 10-12 hours. So she started escorting us out of the hallway back to the waiting room. I work in healthcare and if I behaved anywhere near the way this technician acted today towards a patient, I most likely would be fired on the spot or had significant repercussions. Our son by the time the lab was getting ready to do the test was within 1/2 an hour of being 10 hours NPO. Why not offer for us to sit back in the waiting room for that last 1/2 hour and then complete it. It was horrific customer service. It can be hard enough having a child with Autism, we do not need the extra stress of be treated so poorly. We will be going to Grays Woods from now on since we always have a wonderful experience there. We have no time for such unprofessionalism!
Impossible to call them without waiting on hold for over 15 minutes. It's absolutely infuriating. They also refuse to renew birth control prescriptions without a yearly appointment even if your living situation has had zero changes. They somehow stay booked up for months in advance, so good luck rescheduling your appointment. If I had more options in the area I'd go somewhere else.
I love this place..The staff at the front are welcoming the staff in the back are kind and very up to date on care for our family
