I finally realized that logic wouldn't work when the secretary told me "hey, you can't just go to Walmart and get things for free." I said "no, but atleast the price on the tag corresponds to the amount I'll pay." Her response: "Not necessarily."
She hung up on me when I informed her that I wouldn't be using Stanley Steemer's service in the future.
I pushed for a breakdown of the additional charges, but I only received stammering excuses: "Well, it was, umm, probably umm, $20 extra for...". I'm not convinced that there was any explanation, since evidently there wasn't a detailed record of the additional charges.
Do not trust the quoted price!!

The service we received from Stanley Steemer was above average, but the final price was nearly $100 more than the price I was quoted. Carpet cleaning prices in college towns are competitive, and I was bewildered when our quote of $169+tax turned into a total bill of $260. When I called to inquire about the price difference, the secretary tried to convince me that I should be happy, since "the quoted price included a discount." I had to politely explain that when a discount is applied to a quote but not to the actual cost, there isn't actually a discount, just false advertising.
Cannot guarantee your carpet cleaning, so don't believe there BS. Run a business in a commercial clerical environment. Had an individual within our company step outside and apparently get some type of residue on his shoes and tracked it inside. Had SS come and clean carpets, looked good directly after being cleaned. Within a week the stains were back. I called and discussed about what could be done, they said they would return and re-clean. Upon the second cleaning the individual stated that looking at the spots it may take an additional time to get the spots completely out. Of course a week later the spots were back. I called again for them to come and try again, they refused. They stated they had done everything in their power and an additional re-cleaning fee would be charged. In other words they don't stand behind there work or their word...waste of $250+! Would not recommend!!!!!
